Lexus International’s elite judging committee is delighted to name AGAR PLASTICITY by AMAM as the Grand Prix winner of the acclaimed Lexus Design Award 2016. It’s the fourth year of the annual international design competition that encourages up-and-coming creators from around the world. Every year, the Lexus Design Award presents a unique opportunity for four of the selected finalists to hone their talents. They’re mentored and guided by globally recognised designers with the aim of creating a new Lexus design prototype. Then the results are exhibited at Milan Design Week - one of the largest events of its kind in the world.
This year, the four finalists’ presentations took place at the remarkable Lexus Milan Design Week exhibition entitled ‘An Encounter With Anticipation’. The fabulous work of all 12 finalists was on display. This included AGAR PLASTICITY's winning prototype, alongside the three runner-up prototype works. In addition, there were eight panel displays from the remaining finalists.
AMAM have every reason to feel proud of their achievement. This year the Lexus Design Award drew 1,232 submissions, representing a wide variety of highly original ideas from 73 countries. In keeping with the exhibition theme of Anticipation, many submissions were designed as yet unseen or undefined concepts that are likely to be realised in the near future.
